Biography
"This clan is my home, and the dragons within are my charges- they are under protection. I care for them just as I care for my graveyard. So, if you ever dare to hurt anyone within the clan?... You'll learn just how apt my name is." - Savage.
Savage has lived within Clan Tellatale for years upon years, having arrived when she was just a hatchling. She was raised into adulthood by Dragoon and grew up alongside other long-time clanmates like Crayon and Agony. Though she doesn't express it, Savage loves the clan and the chaotic mesh of different dragons of different origins within. Much like Agony, she will stop at nothing to keep all she holds dear safe and has no qualms with dirtying her claws to do it. The two even have something of a partnership built upon protecting the clan. In battle, they watch each other's backs and never hesitate to take a blow for the other. Not too long after Savage grew to adulthood, she went exploring with Dragoon and Takanosuke, looking to scavenge items for the benefit of the clan. However, that trip was abruptly cut short when they came across the remnants of a small graveyard not too far from the cave. It was placed on a dreary plot of land, the few tombs remaining cracked and covered in dust. It was clearly abandoned by the living, but all three dragons could sense the presence of spirits who lingered with their mistreated graves. Savage couldn't be sure what exactly it was, but something deep inside compelled her to restore the graveyard, expand it further, and accept the title of gravekeeper. She told Dragoon and Takanosuke of her desire to mend the graveyard and become its caretaker, to the surprise of neither dragon. They both understood and encouraged her to do what felt right, so that's exactly what she did. After taking some time to learn the art of stonecarving, woodcrafting and fence-making, she returned to the abandoned graveyard and began her work. She started by fixing the graves and cleaning the area around them, even leaving some flowers from Crayon to appease the spirits. She then expanded the plot and fenced it all in, making sure the fence was high with narrow bars so no animals or grave robbers could get in. From the day she finished her restorations on, she became the gravekeeper of what soon came to be known as the Tellatale Boneyard. Savage is very particular about who may be buried in the Boneyard. All clanmates are promised a place in the graveyard, but beyond that she will take in strangers and even enemies of the clan who redeemed themselves in the end. To remember them by, she'll sometimes collect one of their items or a piece of apparel to display on their grave. If it's an enemy, she makes the morbid choice of taking some of their bones and preserving them in her collection. Some of the apparel she wears is even made of the bones of a foe who didn't redeem themselves in the end. With every dragon, she carves their headstone and crafts their coffin herself. As of now, she can create the highest quality of headstones and coffins within a single day, if not a few hours. She only uses the highest quality stone, planks and tools as well, and has become so well-known for her work that dragons from all over come to purchase or trade for a tombstone and coffin for their own deceased loved ones. She accepts the work, seeing no reason not to help those in mourning provide their loved ones comfortable passage into the afterlife. Alongside the headstones and coffins, Savage will construct a little signal beside the graves made of a rod planted into the ground with a rope and bell attached to it. This way, if ever she buried a dragon who still had breath left to give, they could ring the bell and she would unearth them to begin life again. Some days when the breeze is just strong enough to jostle the bells, they all chorus together in low, foreboding chimes. One day, after just a year of steadfast determination to the care of the dead, Savage found there was more reward in it than alleviating the pain of the silent dead- there was the reward of being able to see and hear them. It began with a Somber Spirit and grew from there, until she completely honed her skills in communing with the dead to the point that her skill surpasses that of even BEN- quite ironic considering the other psychic is a ghost. Thanks to this, Savage has become something of a mentor to BEN in the art of communicating with the other spirits of the afterlife, which he's unconsciously closed himself off to for long time now. Unaware of the full story, she isn't sure why he fears the dead so much when he's one of them. Maybe someday he'll tell her... (BEN also learned a thing or two about woodwork from Savage. It came in handy when he was running his mask shop.) Savage is calm, collected, powerful and determined. It takes some time to earn her trust, but if you can then you'll have earned yourself a true companion and one who could protect you from anything. Savage enjoys tending to the Tellatale Boneyard, telling or hearing ghost and horror stories, collecting bones, caring for hatchlings, and being able to protect her clan. She dislikes feeling helpless or feeling weak, being unable to console dragons in mourning, and anyone threatening her clan or clanmates.
