Biography
"Shadowneey was always destined for greatness. He can distinctly remember being told that he was special and he was going places. His parents doted on him. They always told him that he was a special boy and he would always succeed in everything he did. He always felt so reassured by his parents’ words. He wished they would support him his whole life. When they died, he prayed they would come back and tell him how special he was. As he was shipped off to a small coastal town, far away from his home land, he pleaded that they’d come back to rescue him.
Lanternlea Port was beautiful, he had to admit, but not at all what he wanted. The shady cliffs and brilliant orbs of light weren’t at all how he imagined his life. Especially not when he was stuck on the streets, begging for scraps just to survive. It was brutal and despite being in the Sunbeam Ruins, Shadowneey felt as though there was no light in his life.
That is, until a kind barmaid picked the tiny mirror up off the street and brought him into her tavern. It was a quaint tavern called The Protective Owl. It was a spacious tavern with two floors of rooms above it. Shadowneey was graciously given one of those rooms to live in. In return, he had to keep the tavern and inn perfectly clean. He spent his days mopping floors, dusting shelves, and making beds. It was tiring work, but better than living on the street.
Shadowneey’s favorite people who came in were the ones who came with stories of far off places. They talked about the open sea and grand battles. It sounded fantastical and amazing. Shadowneey always wanted to live that kind of life, but the adventurers never accepted him. They always told him his only purpose would be to clean the deck; he could never be a real pirate or a notable adventurer.
Shadowneey was adamant on proving them wrong. He worked extra hard and even began serving drinks at the tavern to earn some extra tips. For years he saved up every single coin he earned and kept it in a box underneath his bed. When he finally had enough, he bought a boat. It was small and really only had space for him, but it was perfect. He began using his tiny boat to cart cargo around the eastern shore of Sornieth.
It was slow going, but Shadowneey slowly got enough money to get a bigger boat. He continued to grow until he could afford to hire a new crew and be a real pirate. It was exactly what he had always hoped for. With his large boat, glorious captain’s quarters, and wonderful crew, he was able to dominate the other ships on the sea. He could finally show those mean dragons from his past that he was a great pirate and adventurer."
