HEAD OF THE GUARD

Place of Origin: The Cloudscrape Crags
Backstory: Acantha does not talk much about her life as she grew up within the Cloudscrape crags, but her tough demeanor and harsh attitude leaves no doubt in her clanmates minds that it certainly wasn't easy. Some clanmembers even speculate (in hushed tones, of course) whether Acantha had successfully climbed the peaks of the Crags, and what she possibly could have discovered to have made her flee to the other side of the world.

The Clan Protector: Acantha was one of the first to join Winona's Clan of the Shaded Wood, and the pair have a tight and loyal bond with each other as a result. Acantha serves as the clan's Head of Guard, and commands all of the clans guards below her, instructing them on different strategies in keeping the clan safe, whether it be from other hostile dragon clans or from dangerous beast clans. Acantha has a particular hate for the Serthis beast clan, as a group of them once stole a clutch of her eggs during the days the clan was without an nest-guard, leaving only a single egg. She never knew what happened to the rest of clutch, but mourns them and takes her vengeance on the serthis whenever she can. Acantha has a loyal relationship to her only remaining child, the spiral Sequoia, who had chosen a similar career path as her mother.

Painted Wings: Acantha is embarrassed of the bright pink and green coloring her scales naturally have, and ever since her ascension to the clan's Head of Guard, she has had the clan's artist, Thrud, paint her wings with a beautiful dark pattern of flowers and feathers. Acantha takes a strong pride in her painted coloring, and goes nearly every week to get the hues touched up so they never fade.
