Leader of the Scholars and Mages
Head of the Council of Seven
Raziel was once a wanderer. He traveled far and wide, observing and recording any knowledge he could get his claws on, occasionally fighting for that right. Such a life was a lonely one though and as time wore on his limbs began to ache more with each mile traveled so he reluctantly retired back to the light realm of his birth. There he settled with the intention of recording the events of the world around him for posterity’s sake. Raziel is not entirely certain why dragons flocked to him to form a clan nor does he want to be patriarch. All he wants is to be left alone with his writing and perhaps a student or two to impart his vast knowledge upon. Therefore, he developed the council system by which the clan is run. Under his guidance, the clan is now run by a council of seven. Raziel himself supposedly provides the voice of the scribes, scholars, and mages in the council; however, though he is considered by most to be the unofficial head of the clan, he often passes on votes or else simply gives his votes to Lahash (not that officially having a vote or not has ever kept her from voting). Now that he has focused on his tutorage of Morgana, Raziel is even less involved in clan affairs. As a result, several of the younger council members are moving to fill the growing power sink. No one is certain whether Raziel is ignoring the growing division in the clan or actually oblivious to it. The Battle of the Terrace was a mistake from the very beginning. Why Raziel ever let Lahash talk him into being anywhere near that mess is beyond him. Still he, er, fought. Well, mostly just tried not to die but it seemed to him that was at least half the point of the battle. The event only reaffirmed his utter lack of interest in anything involving fighting, though he at least was able to generate some scholarly material on the subject. Perhaps one day other dragons will use his works as key historical documentation (and hopefully avoid making the same mistakes). At any rate, the battle did also introduce him to the first several members of his new clan so he supposed he should be grateful for that as well. |
