What would we be without family? Without our values? Without the dream that one day, somewhere, far into the future, we will find a place to call our home?

Personality: Her personality can be described in one word: Calm. She’s steady, relaxed and not very far from unemotional, to be honest. Leafheart never hurries and often underestimates the seriousness of a situation, waving it aside with: “I can deal with it later”, and often she succeeds in doing just that. She’s been described as the roots of the Nomads, keeping them steady in storms, and protecting them.

She has a fierce sense of justice and feels it’s her duty to almost obsessively care for and protect those she has responsibility over. She’s very loving and motherly, but can easily get jealous and possessive. She is very close to nature and magic, and cannot stand seeing any being in pain or distress, mental or physical. She will do everything she can to help. However, the Nomads always come first.

She keeps a little garden in the fields. That is where the Nomads are currently staying. She tends to the flowers, mostly roses, but sometimes rarer, more exotic flowers native to the City. Some glow in the dark, all of them smell more strongly at night.

She has a hard time accepting change. It takes months to years for her to learn to accept when something has changed, and when she has, she goes back to trying to cling on to the current situation. Despite this, she has an itching feeling of restlessness in her. She knows, somehow instinctively, that she’s not where she is supposed to be. She’s been looking for her destiny all her life, and now, it feels like it is just an arm’s length away, but she can’t touch it. It drives her mad.

Leafheart may appear fearless, and there is no doubt that she could sleep through fires and brave sandstorms without blinking, but there is one thing that frightens her, and that is the thought of losing what she loves. Her territory, her family, her Nomads. She protects her rank and things close to her. Every night, she worries herself to sleep, and wakes up with one thought ringing in her ears: I failed Critter. I can’t fail the rest, as well.

Appearance: Leafheart is a little below average size for a Guardian, however her solid, strong air makes her seem far larger. She is a little to the softer side, but also has a deal of muscle. Her scales are large, armor-like, and polished to a shimmer. She has thin, elegant wings for gliding, but they have weakened due to lack of use. She has a strong, angular face with a strong, although motherly appearance. Her eyes glimmer a deep green and have a soft, caring appearance to them, surrounded with wrinkles. She often wears fur and heavy fabrics, and has long, wavy, graying hair in gijinka form.

Magic: Leafheart is fascinated by magic. She has trained in Nature magic for all her life, but has gotten nowhere. She has, however, made an amazing find in the never wilting flower crown she wears, which gives her a very strong Nature magic, as well as slightly strengthen her empathetic abilities.

Background: Leafheart was born to the desert. The oasis she lived in after she hatched from a parentless egg was small, but enough to give her dreams of seeing endless acres of green vegetation, morning dew and rippling, flowing rivers. It was enough for her to be given the name Leafheart by her caretakers.

She started out gardening, but the small scale of her home frustrated her. She was so certain there was something better beyond the dunes. Eventually, she tired of this feeling, and left to travel the sands.

It felt good to be on the move. She felt free. The need to see new places and find out where she belonged drove her on, instinct guided her steps. Once in awhile, she saw the scales of a fellow dragon glinting in an off-color tone against the desert ground. Most of the time, they moved on before she could approach them, busy with their own thoughts. Sometimes, they made contact. Either one of them stopped. Some followed her.

One of those dragons, the most important of them, was a nervous, jittery mirror called Critter. They begun to trust each other, share stories, spend evenings under each other's wings. Having to soothe his fears made Leafheart feel comfortable. It didn’t take long before they fell in love.

After a few decades or so on the road, she had gathered up a veritable clan around her. They came and went as they found some dragons and as others reached their goals. She fondly called them her Nomads. She had seen hundreds of places, but none of them felt like hers. She was more comfortable with her ever-changing little group and the promise that something new was on the other side of the next dune, and maybe, maybe, that something was what she was looking for.

The years that strengthened the Guardianess only weakened her mate, however. He became tired and gaunt. She lost him to the desert. Everybody else says that he was killed by a disease. When you ask her, all she will say is that the sands wore him down until there was nothing left of him.

She bottled up her feelings about him. She became more distant, but tried to pretend that he had not meant anything to her. She turned her attention to Isis, a Skydancer that the Nomads had picked up a few years ago. They had always been close, but now, she confided in her, spent more time with her than ever. It was a horror to watch her grow closer and closer to a visitor, spend all her time with the Wildclaw called Azazel. This was while Isis was investigating mysterious deaths, dragons turning up with their throats scratched out. She blamed him. This new visitor came in, stole her sense of comfort, and now he would do this.

He left before he could be punished, and her journey started anew, but Leafheart knew that something had changed.

Location: Before the wall where most of the city rests, beneath the spire where the rest of it is located, is a vast expanse of fields and orchards. Carefully controlled rivers flow from limited water resources, and dusty dragons with mud beneath their claws work throughout the day. They grow mostly medicinal plants and food produce here, as most of the gardens hang off the wall, but there are a few decorative areas.

The Nomads have set up shop in these fields, resting under an ancient crooked tree. It is in the middle of a garden Leafheart has started growing, with glittering plants native to the rocky city combined combined with oasis flowers. She tends to it, decorates it with stones and raised ledges, but feels it is a waste. While the leader herself prefers to sleep under the bare sky, most of the Nomads keep simple hide tents.
