A casual flight over the Flamecaller's heated kingdom became disaster in a heartbeat. The thick ash and smoke clouds obscured the wrath of a flock of harpies on the hunt for dragons. Aderyn was struck down quickly and left to lie in the dust while the predatory fowl circled, waiting for her departure into death and the chance to make off with her wings and hide.
Firebrand fought valiantly to keep them at bay while dragging her toward the nearest shelter they could find. His efforts brought them to the mouth of the Blood Forge clan's lair.

The bulk of the incident was lost to her memory, but she came to with her gaping wounds patched by a curious living metal that moved and flexed like her usual hide.
