GENERAL

HE WORE A THOUSAND FACES

Acedia often cringed at the thought of being abandoned. He didn't want to be auctioned away, or left to wander the land alone. He felt sad anyway, he didn't need that to make him any worse. He remembered sitting there at the auction alongside some other unwanted clanmates, and he had to remain calm under the cold stares of most of the potential buyers. He felt vulnerable and unsafe. Acedia knew why they were auctioning him off, and why nobody at the auction wanted him. He was bitten by an onyx cobra, and had developed gembond.

The auction was coming to an end, and he'd given up even hoping for someone to just finally keep him. He was quietly pulled aside by the clan leader, who tightened the wrap around Acedia's jaws and tied new ones around his feet, preventing him from escaping. He wondered why she even bothered keeping him around if she didn't want him. She left for the stand, and he was alone.

It didn't take very long for some buyer to come up close to examine him. Nobody else paid much attention to him, so the mirror dragon remained unnoticed. He reached his claws up, gently grabbing his lower jaw and moving his head to examine his throat briefly.
"You're coming with me." The dragon stated bluntly before taking his claws and slashing straight through the wrap. It was weak, and ripped easily. Acedia didn't know wether he should go or not, but when the dragon calmly began to head through the crowd. He decided that it was worth a try, and he took off after him.

ONLY TO HIDE HIS OWN

After escaping the auction house unnoticed, Acedia tried to open his mouth but his jaws were still bound. The other noticed and carefully cut the material.
"Thank you!" he gasped at last, reaching out to shake his mirror saviour's claws. His mouth briefly curled into a smile.
"It's no problem, mon ami." He nodded, keeping two of his four eyes on the exit of the auction house. "My name is Loki, I was looking to find some new clanmates here, and as expected you were pulled aside, so I took my opportunity."
"You knew I was going to be moved?" the gembond-afflicted male questioned, but he quickly changed the subject. "Never mind... my name's Acedia. Thank you for helping me... why didn't you just pay? It'd have been less risky."
"I wasn't going to pay someone who couldn't see the worth of their own clan members. Besides, they underpriced you." Loki stated simply before beginning to walk again, away from the house. "Anyway, I'd better take you back to the system."

Time seemed shorter with Loki. His company was lovely, and despite his cold nature on the outside he was really nice deep down. They shared their stories, Loki speaking about the abuse he suffered and Acedia telling him about the neglect he faced, and they were left feeling as if they'd known each other for years already as they arrived at the so called "Onyx System", where Loki appeared to have made a home. The system looked very impressive and even pretty, and looked like it was large enough to host thousands.

He followed Loki's path into a certain branch of the system, and after some time they came to two large caves.
"That one," Loki pointed to the left, "is mine. That one," he pointed to the right, "is all yours. I plan on extending the army soon, so hold up hope for me, okay? But for now, it's just us."
Acedia watched as the mirror dragon left for his room, and he took towards his own. He once again felt his insecurities hit him hard, and he tried to avoid his gaze falling onto his gembond-afflicted body. Maybe Loki would help him get through this. He hoped he would.
