In memory of my dearest cat and friend, Rose.
Rosie, there isn't a day that goes by where I don't miss you and its been more than two years now. You were the only one to greet me when I returned home, and you were there for me when I was ill. Both of us were unwanted outcasts, and together we sat quietly by the radiator and read many books. Sure we argued sometimes, but we were always there for each other. After Nicky left, Dad forgot to buy you food a lot, so I'd travel an hour to the nearest shop, no matter the weather, to get you some food. That or I'd beg my friend to give me some. I loved you fiercely, more than anything. You got ill though, and someone decided to call the RSPCA on us because they thought you weren't being taken care of. In truth, dad wanted you to die as soon as possible, but I was doing the best I could to keep you warm and safe. But he locked you out, and refused to fix the catflap. Eventually, and it took a while. Your legs gave out and I called my grandma to take you to the vet. It wasnt looking good and the next day, Dad had you put down. I'm so sorry I wasn't strong enough to go with them and be with you in your final moments. I didn't even cry as I watched the car go. But I knew it would be the last time I'd see you. The shock and the pain set in, festering over time. I miss you so much. I even look at the place where you used to sit in summer, enjoying the sunlight on your face. I remember when we used to sit on the drive together and read in the sun. I was never alone when I was with you but now? Now I am, and it hurts. You fought so hard to get somewhere safe, living in a park and fighting most of your life but I'm so glad we found each other in a time when we needed it most. I suppose we can thank Cats Protection for that. I love you Rosie. May the sun warm your fur in Heaven and hopefully - I'll join you one day. Written 6\11\15
