Biography

Sinew
outsider
ruthless | bloodthirsty | survivor

Born from the reaching and writhing grounds surrounding the Wyrmwound, Sinew jerks and stutters when he walks. Bones crack and heave when he breathes. His wings, more than twice in length than his body, are pure muscle and power. They hang loose against the sides of his body, occasionally dripping blood and pus. His skin bubbles and moves, as though there were creatures running along his veins beneath the surface. His eyes glow blue, warped from the intense heat that brought him into creation.

Sinew limped through the Plaguelands, searching for something. His mind had one goal: survive. His long claws were stained with the blood of prey and lone dragons alike that had stumbled upon him. His mouth was hung open, and a low, raspy breath could be heard coming from behind his sharpened teeth.

Flesh marred with scars, joints that popped with every move, and bones that ached and cracked couldn’t stop him. His sun-bleached wings went unused as he wandered, searching, surviving.

When Sinew approached Ilysiad, it was night. Moonlight cast over everything in the badlands night, everything frozen and empty across the desert valley. The contrast of Sinew's stuttering and unnatural movement against the otherwise complete stillness wasn't hard for the current Ilysiad guard to notice; the guard called out to him, but recieved no answer. The intruder simply strode on, either ignoring or not hearing her shouts. The guard leapt into motion, gliding across the grimy earth - a young, sky-coloured nocturne. She touched down and bounced to a stop in front of the much larger dragon, intending to get in his way to stop him from getting any closer to the clan.

Hey, you. I said stop and identify yourself. Do you hear me? the guard insisted, her tail twisting brokenly in a subconscious mimic of Sinew's. Sinew wordlessly continued dragging on, the tips of his unused wings carving trails into the dirt beside him. The guard thumped her foot on the ground, trying to get his attention. Listen to me! Don't make me -- Oh. Oh, gods.

All of a sudden, the guard pieced together what was giving her such a horrible feeling about the whole situation. The dragon in front of her was barely a dragon at all -- he was a Wyrmwound horror the likes of which she had rarely encountered, even so close to the writhing lake itself. This dragon - if one could call it that - moved as if he were full of insects or something similarly disgusting. His skin moved loose and slimy across all-too-present bones; his jaw hung brokenly open and whistling groans came rhythmically with each disturbingly slow breath. This creature took no heed of the guard's sudden terror. He simply continued on his trajectory direcly past the nocturne, who was frozen in fear of this terror. The smell of rotting flesh assaulted the guard as Sinew crept past barely a meter away, shocking her into action.

Stop, you freak! Get away! and then, in the vain hopes the next guard was on their way to relieve her, Help me! In a moment of panic and terror, the guard leapt forwards and attempted to grab the intruder. Yet, without so much as faltering in his unsteady footsteps, Sinew knocked the small nocturne to the side with a sweep of his pale wing. Unprepared, she stumbled backwards and onto the ground, her shoulder bashing into some debris and an already-bloody gash splitting open. She hissed in pain and looked up fearfully to see if Sinew intended to finish the job.

But she was safe, for now. The nocturne watched as Sinew's outstretched wing seemed to crumple in on itself, sun-bleached streaks folding as the wing drooped to kiss the ground again. It was clear now that this monster didn't intend to attack the guard, nor do business with the clan -- no, this monster was on a direct path towards the Bonfire. Like a moth to a light, Sinew staggered in a direct trajectory towards the center of the Clan.

Gritting her teeth against the pain of her injury, the guard pushed herself to her feet and then into the air. She had to warn the others, to get some backup for subduing this beast before it could harm the clan. She flew as fast as she could manage towards the Bonfire, hoping frantically that somebody would know what to do.

Eventually, Sinew was captured and placed into temporary holding in a carved-out pit beneath the rock of the Plateau. He now resides there, pacing back and forth mindlessly, occasionally stopping to stare out at any guards from behind the wrought metal of the cage's bars. His gaze seems edged with maliciousness, even as it objectively stays as empty as it has been, but some speculate he's getting desperate - it's been months since he has been free to wander, to kill. It just may be that the longer he's confined, the harder he's going to strike when he's free.

Nobody intends to ever let him free. They'd sooner destroy the sacred Plateau and bury him in the rubble than give him any chance to exact whatever horrifying revenge he may be cooking up.
