Biography
Awenydd
Clan Lorekeeper
Clan Lorekeeper
|
Her pearl is cracked, and that's okay . . . finally.
Awenydd was in a bad place when she came to Clan Redfoot. As a bright young hatchling, her family had big expectations for her and the things she would do in the future. They pressured her to learn and study, trying to fast-track her future. She didn't want to disappoint them, she worked harder and harder, until one day she cracked. Literally. A crack appeared in her beloved pearl, something she had never seen before. Ashamed and afraid of what her family's expectations were doing to her, she left home. At first it was just to find some way to fix her pearl, but in her travels she found the dens of Clan Redfoot. With their mechanical and botanical experience, she stayed for a few weeks, looking for a solution for her cracked pearl. She didn't find one, but she did find a friend. A friend who understood what a parent's expectations can do to their child. Rosehip introduced Awenydd to her mate, Tug, and the two of them hit it off as well. Tug could see how much Awenydd's friendship meant to his mate and invited the Pearlcatcher to stay with them until she decides to move on. That decision hasn't been made yet, and probably won't. When the clan's former lorekeeper finally yielded to the call of the Earthshaker and moved on, she took over the duty of recording the history and legends of the clan. After looking for a way to fix her cracked pearl, Awenydd found instead a place where a few cracks didn't matter. It's more than the pearl that's cracked, and Awenydd knows it. Sometimes she wonders how Tug and Rosehip put up with her. More than once she's thrown all of her things in a bag, intent on leaving them alone forever so they wouldn't have to bother with the trouble of her. She is prone to rapid and severe mood swings, which can last a few minutes or a few days. She's terrified of losing anyone close to her by hurting them, so she lashes out at them to try and drive them away. She can go from happy to tears in seconds, active and inspired to bedridden. She knows that she is a burden on her friends, but doesn't know what she would do without their love and steadfast support. |
