Feeling ignored in his large family, Vatiaschat ran away from home at a young age with his best friend from another clan, Zeria. Fortunately, they stumbled upon the clan and were taken pity on by Tiresias, who cared for them.

Entranced by Tiresias' abilities to see all potential futures, Vatiaschat doggedly studied astrology with Arcane scholars to learn how to read the stars and in essence becoming a prophet in his own right, though not through any intrinsic abilities.

Vatiaschat and Zeria became mates; not out of any romantic inclinations, as Zeria had no interest in being in a relationship, but because Zeria desired to become a mother and Vatiaschat was thrilled with the prospect of becoming a father. Instead, Vatiaschat became Agni's lover, and could usually be found in his quarters, whether he be reading by firelight, plotting out complex astrological charts, or having a conversation with the other Spiral. Vatiaschat's armband is a gift from Agni, who insisted on lavishing him with jewelry, silks, scrolls--whatever his heart desired.

Always having an adventurous bone in his body, Vatiaschat was quick to join Agni on his expeditions to untamed lands. Agni has insisted on instructing Vatiaschat in combat, to which Vatiaschat had surprisingly taken like a fish to water.

With the deaths of Zeria and Tiresias, and Vatiaschat's increasing fear of Agni as his love's true nature became more apparent to him, Vatiaschat sought solace in the embrace of Mnuti, a powerful warrior, on those nights when Agni slipped off to commit secret, unspeakable acts.

Vatiaschat is somewhat concerned about some of the ways that his daughter, Czarina, takes after him, but out of all his children she is the one dearest to his heart. Vatiaschat refused to let Mnuti meet her, though, doubtful that the vain but stolid warrior would take well to his spoiled daughter.

Czarina had four children, and the eldest of them, Schatczar, was smuggled out of his birthclan and into Vatiaschat's care. Lacking any of his own children in the clan, and being a nurturing soul, Vatiaschat eagerly took his grandson under his wing and taught him the art of divination. Eventually, Schatczar returned to his birthclan, but they still remain in correspondance.

Mnuti eventually grew bored with the clan and decided to leave and fight for Windsinger.

Vatiaschat lives in self-imposed exile now, though on the rare occasions when he enters the city proper, Vatiaschat can't help but find his gaze drawn to Zweitwo . . . but Vatiaschat feels that he doesn't deserve to be around other dragons, due to the horrors that his mate, Agni, committed, and fears losing another love. (And if he must be honest, a part of him that he struggles to deny still loves Agni.)

Vatiaschat is torn between disturbed and intrigued that Adelkhaa has chosen to pursue him as her mate. He has found, as time has gone on, that Zweitwo increasingly fades from his thoughts in favor of the surprising amount of joy that Adelkhaa's mere presence brings him. Her insistence on outtings with him as dates has also had the result of engaging him with the community once more for the first time in a long time. Adelkhaa's forward–borderline aggressive–nature and open desires are a quality that he appreciates quite a good deal. Unconsciously, that aspect of her reminds him a greatly of Agni.

Due to becoming immersed in his old passions for the first time in a long while, Vatiaschat remains unaware of the uneasy subcurrent roiling through Clan Agnidoom.

Adelkhaa became restless after Vatiaschat stopped giving her all of his attention and eventually left the clan. While it saddened Vatiaschat, he had a feeling that would happen and just wishes her the best.
