Clan Dawnlight of the Shining Armory looked far and wide for the perfect ice mascot. It was more important to clan Dawnlight that they had mascots than the traditional flight ambassadors because, at the end of the day they were a warrior clan and could be a touch intimidating. The mascot system allowed them two things that the ambassador system never could. First, it meant that every hatchling would have an older mentor and playmate that could go where they went and do as they did. This meant quicker and more efficient training regimens, as well as easing the hatchlings into the clan with someone that was less intimidating than the huge imperials, ridgebacks, and guardians that called the clan home. Second, it means that the clan can send dragons who can scout ahead without appearing threatening. It is much easier, they have found, to approach tentative and skittish allies with a dragon who is permanently a hatchling than by sending the imposing Ghera or the excitable Bertrand.
