As you make your founds around the clan’s home and think to visit Sin again, a bicolored coatl dressed in heavy armor stops you.

“Halt!” She declares, puffing out her chest as she plants her claws in the grass. “Who goes there? Declare yourself!” Despite her attempts to seem intimidating, however, she comes off like an overeager puppy that you can’t help indulging. You announce yourself and your purpose, stating that you’re a guest. At first, the coatl seems hesitant. Then, after a moment of thought, she flicks her tongue.

“Well…” She starts. “...okay. If mom says you’re welcome then you’re welcome.” A bright smile replaces her earlier uncertainty, and with a cheerful tone, she announces, “Welcome!”

Once she deems you’re not a threat, she’s raring and ready to give you a tour of the premises. She introduces you to the busy-body patriarch, the crazy-headed healer, the samurai princess, and anybody else you might not have encountered. She brings you to the mercenaries, introduces you to the acolytes getting ready to join the Windsinger’s chorus, and ends the tour by showing you to the edge of camp where the cliff dropped off into a gorgeous view of the ocean-like territory to the north. It’s only after she’s exhausted the tales of others that she finally starts to tell her own, but it’s clear from the beginning that she doesn’t have much to say.

“I’ve been here since I hatched,” she beings. “From the moment I opened my eyes, this has been my family. Vyrsil is my father, Sin is my mother, Xayron is... “ She pauses, puzzling for a moment, “...my bodyguard? And then everyone else are mom’s friends, so they’re my friends too!” The coatl beams, but there’s something off. It takes you a moment to realize who’s missing in her little family, but her exclusion of that particular dragon is surprising.

“What about Arataki?” You ask. Poya’s answer takes some time.

“She’s the favorite.” The coatl states. “The beautiful daughter. The strong, graceful, pretty one. Momma-- er-- Sin loves her. Everybody can see that.” Her head feathers droop. Poya is anything if not horrible at hiding her feelings. “I’m not bitter or anything, you know. I just wish I could be that amazing too.” She sighs wistfully.

The two of you sit in silence for some time before she finally gets to her feet, shaking out her wings while her armor rattles noisily. “Well,” she huffs, “I think it’s time we head back, don’t you?” She’s clearly anxious to discard her jealous, moody attitude. You stop her with a gentle claw, an action she’s clearly surprised and conflicted about. Despite the discouraged expression she wears, you reassure her gently, propping the hedge knight back up on her small, stubby legs with a few encouraging words.

“That’s nice of you to say,” she answers quietly, though it clearly wasn’t enough. “...that was. Really nice,” she chuckles, tongue flickering nervously as she blushes. “Look, I’ll… I’ll take you back to camp and then I have to go on patrol.” This time, you agree to the offer, and Poya gives you the first sincere smile you’ve seen all day.

Poya bids you farewell after dropping you off near the entrance to the camp. She has a soft glow about her, head held higher than before. She turns to leave, wings spread, right as she catches her sister’s eye. And though it takes her a moment’s pause, she offers the Skydancer a fleeting grin, taking to the sky as the pale beauty offers a smile in return.
