Viorel was raised to be an oracle and seer from childhood, but his water-borne visions never developed with any clarity. They only came in sudden, disorientating, and often painful flashes. Despite training, he was never able to gain control and guidance over his erratic glimpses into the future and the severe migraines that accompanied them. Their unpredictability left him anxious, isolated, and prone to panic attacks.

A glimpse of a close friend's impending death was the last straw. Too troubled to tell anyone what he'd seen, Viorel left his home and decided to distance himself from the Sea of a Thousand Currents in hopes of lessening his visions. Eventually he found refuge in Haven Clan - the Gladeveins being wet enough to support a water dragon, but dry enough to allow him some respite. Here he discovered a passion for language, and took up a post as the clan's official linguist and translator.

Though happier in his new home, he still struggles with intense visions and pain from time to time, especially after prolonged contact with water or during heavy rains. He avoids deep bodies of water as a result, but still struggles with weather; even the changes in pressure that herald a coming storm can trigger an anxiety attack.
