Biography
MIRAAK [He/Him]
Allegiance Guide Alone / Guard | space text space text |

|
Arrogant and proud individual. Doesn't have the time nor the patience for small talk or bonding, so he mostly says what is necessary and nothing more. When forced to speak or caught off guard, he will flick sassy remarks your way. Considers himself slightly above everyone else, except a few selected individuals. Has threatened to hurt hatchlings several times when they got too curious. Mutters ancient, forgotten languages to himself a lot when he thinks nobody else is around. | space text |
He was imprisoned by the Icewarden and his most trusted assistants during ancient times, and held prisoner deep inside The Fortress of Ends for decades, working until he could not stand. Originally being a nomadic member of the Plague flight, back when nomadic dragons were far between, his arrival at The Southern Icefield was already suspicious. His future acts, however, was what defined his fate. Shortly after arriving in The Icewarden's frigid territory, Miraak started picking off young, naive dragons and taking them to his hideout, hidden deep within the icy hills. Here, he slowly but surely converted them to his mindset; the Icewarden wasn't a fit leader. In fact, no leader but him was. Later, after pushing the limits of his stay as much as possible, he attacked. Sending his new minions as spies, trying to topple the entire rule of their Deity. But they were inexperienced, and several were too afraid to act when the day came, leaving him alone and powerless. The Icewarden, enraged with his useless plot, had him captured and forced to work for him, finding and preserving fossils and things of the like. Refusing to listen to him, Miraak eventually raided their stores, smashing everything he could before being shackled and thrown into an icy prison. Here, they abandoned him to starve or freeze to death; whatever came first. He eventually passed, and was tossed outside, left to be buried by the snow.
Years later, when dragonkind had flourished to its full potential, he awakened. There have been rumors of how this came to happen; his closeness to the Deities, perhaps he never actually died at all, perhaps this was his plan all along. Not even Miraak seems to know. He emerged from the meters of snow covering his body, being too obsessed with escaping his icy coffin to notice that he felt nothing. The cold did not get to him, he was clearly bleeding, but he did not feel the wounds. It wasn't until he saw his reflection in the shiny, reflective surface of ice crystals he realized, his body was not what it once was. Here and there, skin had begun to wither and fall off, leaving his flesh exposed, ribs were poking out from beneath his hide, his horns were shattered and his maw was stuck in a twisted grin, most of his jawbone and teeth bare. His body had withered, his limp and creaky bones being proof that his now walking carcass did not fully function the way it should. After traversing the world, taking the same route he did as he left his home, he returned to the realm of the Plaguebringer, soon settling in the outskirts of a clan, watching them. Strangely enough, despite his earlier lifestyle, he craved company. Perhaps not anything close, but something. After Shambles' clan migrated to the Viridian Labyrinth, he finally made it clear to them he was there, sick of meeting hostility from other Nature dragons. All he wanted at this point was to get some well-earned rest, leaving his plots and plans behind him and moving on. Shambles, seeing his need for company despite his eerie looks and unwelcomming personality, accepted him as part of her clan immediately. He's taken on the job of guard, placing himself in immediate view of anyone who comes through the main gate. Now, strangely enough, Miraak has taken a liking to Peranthia, a caring, motherly druid who just happens to reside just next to him. He would never admit it, of course, but it does seem like a kind of friendship has blossomed between the two. He would prefer to claim they're merely neighbors, but he does seem to enjoy her chattering and care. She gives him something to do while he guards the entrance of the lair. |
