Veritas does not remember his mother’s face, only her fleeting warmth and low, crooning voice. Sometimes he wonders if he was left on purpose or if she was taken from him. He’ll never know, most likely.

Killing was all he knew for a very long time. How often he would sleep in the trench of some foreign land, splattered with blood that was not his own. He still smells it sometimes, thick and coppery and overwhelming his senses, though he hasn't been to war since he arrived at the gates of Dorsia. He has more scars than he can count and remembers naught from where or whom he got them, nor does he wish to. That part of his life is over and he’d sooner die than return to it.

Since coming to the clan, Veritas has taken solace in working with his claws in a more productive fashion, using his flame to blow glass and create larger-than-life murals. The windows of the cathedral in which the clan inhabits are largely decorated with stained glass that Veritas fashioned himself. He occasionally creates smaller pieces as well, oddly shaped bottles and basins of a multitude of colors, all dependent on his mood. No two pieces look the same and his work is highly sought after, even from outside the Wood.
