Biography
***Warning: Dark Lore Ahead!***
The life of this desert native was, for much of it, a tortured and miserable one. As a hatchling, Kedar was separated from his parents during a trip to the Starwood Strand to search for healing herbs. He spent nearly a week wandering around the forest, lost and hungry, and nearly fell prey to the creatures that dwell within the mystical woods. His life was saved when he stumbled across a tower occupied by a mage, who promised the lost hatchling food, a home, and an opportunity to master magic that he'd get nowhere else. The starving Kedar eagerly took the opportunity.
Unbeknownst to him, the mage was a Shade-worshipping necromancer, and he had fallen right into the trap - he spent the rest of his youth being a conduit for dark energies that left him permanently scarred and mutilated, and having his very soul torn to shreds for unspeakable necromantic rituals. Though he wished more than anything to leave, every time he protested, he was reminded that without his master's intervention, he would be dead. And so he stayed, hiding the scars with heavy clothes and bandages, and allowed the torment to continue out of gratitude for his salvation. Eventually, the splintered remains of his soul lost the will and the ability to fight back.
He was only set free when a team of dragons sent by the Lightweaver put a stop to the mage's blasphemous activities, and offered Kedar a chance to join them. Again, he took the opportunity for a better life, following the team to the Sunbeam Ruins. There, his soul was mostly restored, though nothing could ever remove the corruption of the Shade from it. In addition, little could be done about the effects of the magic on his body. And so, he continues to wear the heavy clothing, hat, and bandages to obscure what he considers a deformed, hideous creature with eyes which have faded from their natural teal to an eerie, pulsating black.
After a time fighting alongside the soldiers of the Lightweaver, Kedar decided to return to his homeland, the Shifting Expanse. He still searches for his parents and sister, and his greatest dream is to find them again, even if just to let them know he is alright. He would never rejoin his family, as he fears that the Shade could come for him again and take control of his body while he slumbers. Though he doesn't know if this is possible, he would rather not take the chance, and so he has made his home with Kaith's relatively peaceful clan. He trusts that Kaith is strong enough to drive the Shade from him if it were to possess him.
No one is sure if his years of exposure to the Shade have anything to do with it, but chipmunks have a strange affinity for Kedar.
