Lillian
The Matriarch
"Ice is a beautiful thing, but remember that every rose has its deadly thorns." A former commander in the Icewarden's army, Lillian is highly resourceful and battle-hardened. Although small, she was a highly respected soldier, and had risen to the commanding position with distinction. Eventually, however, after watching a close comrade die in battle, war became too much for her to bear. She ran away to the outskirts of the Southern Icefield to hide and recuperate. Her face had been badly marred in her last battle, so as the tiny warrior escaped, her first thought was to hide the ugly scars that now poisoned her former beauty. To this day, she never removes her hood. Little did the Fae dragon know that the weeks of strenuous flying had damaged her wings beyond repair. She had almost made it to the Frigid Floes when quite suddenly, her wings buckled and she plunged from the sky. Lillian fought for control of her flight, struggling to pull upwards again to no avail. She landed on the ice below with a sickly crack, and blacked out immediately. The next thing she knew, Lillian woke in a cavern lit by a soft, silvery light. She looked around to see another Fae dragon, this one male. He was crouched on a ledge on the opposite side of the cavern, his pale Ice eyes focused on hers. "You're awake," said the strange male in a cheerful tone. "I suppose I am," murmured Lillian, still disoriented. "Where am I?" The male shook his head. "That doesn't matter. What matters is that you're alive, and that you will be able to fly again." Lillian attempted to stand up, but something was weighing her wings down. She glanced downwards to see that her wings were attached to two metal contraptions of sorts. They were vaguely shaped like wings themselves. "What are these?" Her voice wavered, as if she was hesitant to ask the question. "They're your new wings. My name is Soren- I'm a mechanic. I made them for you." Lillian and Soren made fast friends- the two soon ventured off to find a place to settle down. Well, Lillian did- her new friend decided to join her, supposedly on account of needing to help her take care of her new wings. What the red dragoness did not know is that Soren had fallen hopelessly in love with her determination and grace. Although she was a vicious warrior at one point, Lillian is a kind and nurturing dragoness who leads her clan with a gentle and fair rule. She prays daily to the Icewarden to forgive her for her desertion, and has promised to send many young warriors his way in her stead. |
