Like many of their breed, Gradh was born into a nest of attentive parents. The third of four siblings, the young Skydancer learned quickly to be sneaky in his efforts of finding ways out of his nest. Despite his parents attentiveness, there was only so much they could do with four hatchlings to look after making it easy for the young one to slip out every so often. Once free from their careful watch, he continued to wander around the lair exploring and sometimes spying on the other members. Once he was old enough to fend for himself, the young Skydancer chose to slip out into the world quietly.

His wandering would eventually lead him to a clan in the light territories where a young Pearlcatcher named Majesta caught his attention. Intrigued by her fancies, he chose to remain for a while and nest with her, producing three children. Though he was attentive, it broke his heart a little to find his mate wasn't the same way, and in time he chose to move on once again. This time his travels lead him to the Windswept Plateau, closer to home but far enough away that he was still quite independent. In time he found himself drawn into the sizable lands of the Passus Canorous, a clan that held both storytellers and less than savory folk.

Taken under the wing of the spymaster, Ilmarinen, Gradh has quickly become his favored student. Despite his bright feathers and the continued plague of gembond, Gradh has proven himself to be most adept at hiding in plain sight. It would be in the clan that the young Skydancer would find another mate, this time a Skydancer named Kaerlighed. Though the pair have yet to find time to mate, he's looking forward to having many nests with her.
