Elsewhere does not have a definitive location. It wasn't important at the time.
What is important is that it wasn't here.
It was elsewhere.
Elsewhere didn't have a place to store the shinies.
There needed to be a place for the shinies.
But elsewhere would have noticed if they had just left...
They arranged for the replacement.
The replacement wasn't them, of course.
The replacement wasn't as pretty. As clever. As good at collecting shinies.
But as long as the replacement was there, elsewhere wouldn't notice the absence...
They had to leave some of the shinies behind.
Elsewhere had not provided a way to carry them...
