Starscream was once an archetypal Pearlcatcher; haughty, proud, and vain. She put much more importance on how others perceived her than what her actions actually said about her. That is, until the day her pearl was stolen. She was mocked, laughed at; in order to return to her former status, she had to retrieve her pearl.

And so she set off, following any lead she could get to find her precious pearl. She grew haggard and hungry during the pursuit, refusing to give up on retrieving her most precious possession. Eventually the search lead her to Dragonhome, where she was so perilously close to her goal, and also where she met a Snapper dragon named Bulkhead.

Bulkhead was instrumental in helping her find her pearl, which at the time was in the hands of a roaming gang of thieves. The thieves attacked them while one attempted to make off with the pearl; Starscream took off in pursuit, leaving Bulkhead to fend for himself. The thief dropped the pearl, and as it plummeted Starscream was faced with a choice; dive and catch it, or dive and fight with Bulkhead.

She chose Bulkhead, and though they were badly injured, they managed to run off the gang. Starscream's pearl was shattered, however, along with all hopes of her returning to her former life. She flew back toward the Ruins with Bulkhead in tow, and was happy for his company.

Bulkhead split off from her near the Tidelord's domain, telling her they would meet up again in three days. She waited, fearing he wouldn't keep his word; but he did, and when he returned he carried with him a shining a pearl. It was a gift, the best he could do. They returned to the Ruins together, already awaiting their first clutch.

Starscream is still standoffish and snippy, though her favour can easily be won with a few compliments. She does not associate with the high-society Pearlcatchers anymore, as they prefer to deride her for carrying around that fake pearl 'as if it meant something.'

It does. But they could never understand anyway.

Her familiar is a Fallout Streak called Strax, who once nested in her mane without her knowing, and so accidentally got carried away from her home. Strax acts as a messenger for Prowl's clan.
