Serge
The unmanageable Clanhead and Progenitor of Fogfloe.
Serge has a claws-off approach to leadership, which is to say, he spends minimal time in the Lair, sometimes disappears for a week at a time, and will come home dragging a dead Elk. A gifted hunter, there isn’t a nurturing bone in his body - if he keeps the clan well fed, that’s only a side effect of his abnormally high kill rate and nothing to do with his capacity as a caregiver (in any case, the herbivores are on their own). Protector of a patch of earth where pinwheels spin in multiple directions, Serge has no interest in keeping anyone tethered, assumes the rest of the clan know their own business and by and large prefers to be alone, or better yet, chasing down an encroaching Harpy. Perhaps it’s this that makes Fogfloe a port for wanderers and misfits, as well as an intersection for currents and missing objects. Serge has no attachment to the treasures that end up in his domain, whether carried by roaming northerly winds or tracked down for a customer with heavily lined pockets. On occasion, he will join the more mercenary clan members in their quests, for the thrill of pursuit rather than the promise of reward. He tolerates few but the clan grew around him anyway like mushrooms around the base of a stubborn tree stump. Maybe they are all looking for something to guard. Serge is not a dragon who seems likely to inspire loyalty. Like wind that blasts across the plains, flattening everything in its path, his temper can be terrible and indiscriminate. As a hatchling, he did not play well with others, a trait he never really grew out of. Nevertheless, there is no better dragon to have by your side when a rival clan comes calling since Serge is reliably moved to shield those who can't be trusted to save themselves. A force of nature unto himself, Serge has little tolerance for cowards or anything resembling politics which, coupled with his surly attitude, makes him Sornieth’s worst negotiator. Diplomacy is best left to Maris, who lives to talk in circles, or Luck, whose sheer affability makes him difficult to dislike. |
