Jorunn was born out of the unusual union of a Shadow dragon with an Ice one on a nest at the top of the Great Furnace, in a spot hidden among a thousand others in the Ashfall Waste. Even as a hatchling, everyone soon took notice that she was as great a trickster as her father and someone just as competitive, which meant potentially being just as dangerous - maybe more. From her mother, she had the ability to keep her emotions in check and under control whenever she deemed it necessary. A trait that made her stand out among the impulsive fire brethren all around her.

She had no interest in unnecessary fights, in spite of how much the others could be interested in them. She knew that choosing her battles was what meant true victory, so she would always carefully pick who to challenge in order to keep on escalating in the hierarchy of her clan. As others soon learned, that didn't mean she was the kind of dragon to put off a fight. More than anyone else, Jorunn was always challenging herself and pushing her boundaries to become better, faster and stronger. Beating challengers again and again were just more steps along the way. She knew though that there had to be more to life than battling in her clan and the neighbouring ones. She was meant for something else, something more.

The response to her questions came in the form of an attack at her lair in the middle of the night, the Beastclans trying to take them off-guard. There was no time to wait for the other warriors to wake up or come to her aid so the responsibility of fighting them was hers and hers alone. By the time others finally showed up, Jorunn stood alone in the battlefield. She had no intentions of forgiving those who had dared try to harm her clan and raid her homeland. Out of over a hundred enemies, there were no prisoners, no survivors. Unanimously the dragons decided to make her Clan Leader. She refused.

The battle had shown her what she was truly capable of and what she was meant to do. She would fight the Beastclans wherever they appeared. Only later would she realize that her battles were taking her to her mother's homeland, the Southern Icefield. The unforgiving environment and the constant battles left no room for doubts. She had been born for this. Like a Shadow dragon she wanted to win at all costs. Like a Fire dragon she cared passionately for the lair that ended up taking her in. But, above all, like an Ice dragon, it was the intention of keeping her loved ones in peace that always led her to war. When the clan left the Southern Icefield to settle in The Sea of a thousand currents, she too embraced their new homeland.
