Masayoshi grew up blessed with a privileged life, born the son of a noble and a royal knight. His father and mother were very close to the king and queen, and because of this, much of Masayoshi's early years were spent with their children, Prince Astor and Princess Koufuku (though they never allowed him to call them so formally). Once he was old enough, Masayoshi began training to be a knight with one goal in mind: to protect his precious childhood friends.

After many years of hard work and dedication, Masayoshi became the youngest dragon in Noctis' history to become the knight commander, and though there were innumerable complaints about his age among the public, he soon won them over with his fierce dedication and loyalty, as well as his unyielding morals. While his speech is formal and polite, he is still oddly lacking in social grace; however, his kindness and surprising purity make it hard to hate him.
