Once a lost and abandoned hatchling herself (adopted and raised by Sangue, Moana, and Taj along with Sangues two sons), Val knows what it feels like to be scared and uncertain of the future awaiting her and because of that, she does her best to make her hatchlings feel loved and cherished during the time they’re in her care.

After years of doing her duty and watching the little ones grow and leave her, a particular hatchling arrived in the clan. Exhausted, terrified and reticent; the only one that the little guardian let near was Val. The elder quickly feeling a deep connection and declaring to Sangue that night that Hymn was her charge and that if there was a problem with that, Val was prepared to leave the clan if need be. Amused, Sangue replied that there was no such need for that and allowed the little guardian to join the small clan.

And so the two grew even closer as Hymn grew and learned and slowly opened up to the others in the clan. In a way, Val is the rebellious hot tempered teens mother. A task Sangue couldn’t help but say there is no better at it than the guardian.
