Cian loved the sky. She struck out on her own and made a new clanhome so she could have her own beautiful piece of sky. She guarded her sky with all her might, but other dragons landed just out of sight and wandered in to take up space around her with amused tolerance. That was okay, because they left her the sky. Wind or rain didn't matter to Cian, she sat in her hollow with her head turned up to the sky while the others took shelter from the elements in caves.

Cian might have died out there alone admiring the sky, but an exceptionally ugly guardian moved in almost seconds after Cian had made her clan and declared his love for her. He was ridiculous. He brought her food though sometimes she had to bite him because his ugly pink and black bulk got between her and sky. Often he sat and talked to her. Perhaps she didn't mind him so much. Especially after he found a spot to sit where he didn't block the sky and she found out he was good at telling stories. Just for her, he made up all sorts of stories about her piece of sky. Cian loved her sky, but old ugly wasn't bad for a dragon.

Then one day the ugly pink dragon didn't appear. Instead a very handsome blue fellow strutted into her lair, his hide looking like a cloudy sky. Imagine her shock to find out her story teller had changed his colours just for her! She preened happily and allowed him to settle down beside her, as long as he ducked his head so it didn't block her view.

Their clan kept growing and helped Cian move off the ground and onto kites and platforms and balloons in the sky. Living in the sky was a dream come true and her heart warmed to the clan around her, but still they were careful to not come between her and her Charge, the great open sky.
