Spinel Reserved | Rude | Proud | Stuck-Up | Quite |
|
Not many know of the depressing past of Spinel; not even some of her closest allies are completely sure of her dark beginnings. Spinel was born not a pair of loving dragons, but to the dusty lands of Dragonhome, her egg having somehow floated across the nameless seas from Viridian Labyrinth. A band of Ridgebacks by the name Caecus snatched her as a child, not so much raising her so much as training her to steal and cheat. After many years of this odd relationship, they were separated by sell, when she was sold to a clan for eight bands of crimson silk to serve in a an ongoing battle. One day during the many battles, she felt her heart flutter at the Imperial by the name Dolus. Something about him drove her to near insanity with longing, to have this mate that fought upon the other side. When walking in the forests in a time with stars yet no moon, she stumbled upon him, his wing looking like burnt, forgotten papers. As she mended to his wounds, her fast tongue let slip her love for him. She was instantly shocked when she felt his less injured wing bring her closer, as she told her how her eyes were finer than jade, and that her scales shined brighter than the still ocean reflecting the sky's grace. The night slowly became less a scene, and more a mix of emotions and blurry visions. For five years time, they sneaked of at the odd time, and spent the night in the woods. Then there was the last day of their love. Spinel had decided to sneak off early, to make sure no one was at their spot. Footprints lead to the spot in which they had always met. Pearlcatcher footprints. Blending in with the bushes, she looked at the small clearing, and her face became full of disgust, confusion, and terror. A firey colored Pearlcatcher was tucked in his wings; one from her own side. A shrill, oddly short screech pierced the air, silencing everything it touched. Blood stained the scars on Dolus's wings, blending in with them. Something snapped within Spinel. |
Her flirty innocence, her trust, even her eyes lost their once pure glow. Months passed, and Spinel desperately tried to stay out of battles, choosing instead to try and be a healer. Tough times came though, and her claws were forced to fight a battle. She did not fear the fight though. She feared him. Everytime she saw him on the field, she ran. But fate had different plans for the unfortunate Spiral. Coming in from above, he pinned her to the ground. Curses flooded from his mouth, spit foaming wih rage and satisfaction. He told how useless she was, how she would've been better dead in the clearing. "I want to give you something to remember me by once you die you worthless trash!" was the last words she heard before he clawed her eye, leaving her on the brink of death. After the field cleared, she roled down a hill, to weak to move, and landed in a smooth, deep river. She floated downstream till Garnet found her on a hunting trip, immediately returning her to camp. Even though her memories were a bit hazy, she still needed many years to recover from the experience. When she first woke up, she couldnt even be around dragons that looked like Dolus, including just being a male dragon. However, Garnet helped her slowly become accustomed to regular clan life. When first meeting her, all he did was bring her soup, his face covered by a guise. Some days, he would let it down, and eventually he stopped wearing it. He began to make small talk, even just saying "Hi" or "Hello. Garnet slowyl and surely saw too it that she was healthy and emotionally stable. Many say that he put the glow back in her eyes, and the shine in her scales. Spinel now works as clan marine explorer, because of her unusual ability to breath underwater. But to this day, Spinel still gets a bit anxoius around the male Imperials of the clan, and sometimes loses sleep to thoughts of Cronus. |
