Vlad III Țepeș
Prince of Wallachia | 1431–1476

Vlad was born as a member of the House of Drăculești, a branch of the House of Basarab.

His father, Vlad II Dracul, was a member of the Order of the Dragon, which was founded to protect Christianity in Eastern Europe.
Princess Cneajna of Moldavia is believed to be his mother.
Radu cel Frumos, Radu III the Beautiful, is his younger brother who converted to the Islam and entered Ottoman service - where he became the Sultan’s lover and thus received his nickname.

Vlad ruled as Voivode of Wallachia and is known for his protection of the Romanians both north and south of the Danube, driving back the Ottoman Empire.

As the cognomen "The Impaler" suggests, his practice of impaling his enemies is part of his historical reputation. During his lifetime, his reputation for excessive cruelty spread abroad, to Germany and elsewhere in Europe.

Against public belief he did not die in 1476 altough this year was a major turning point in his life.
Why you ask? Well, after his final defeat by the Ottomans he WAS killed - or so his enemies believed. In fact he was buried more or less alive and not beheaded.
After managing to free himself from his grave he lived on as vampire Count Dracula - although he despices being called like that. He prefers just "Vlad".

He now lives happily with his partner and lover Lysander who is a Protestant Pater and got seduced by his charme. Vlad enjoys teasing him with blasphemic and lascivious behavior - Lysander on the other hand likes to tease him back by calling him "Count Dracula".
