Gates of Erecius for example are powered by all sorts of mechanics. Not everything flows on magic! They need to be maintained and repaired if any errors occur.
Amira takes after her father, who was one of the head engineers in the realm of Lightning dragons.
She wanted to explore and so abandoned her lair to learn about any of the other materials beyond the walls. She built her familiar, a Chromefeather Lookout to be by her side and headed out.

She was interested to join Erecius and offered herself to be their engineer.
Well, why not.
