Biography

"The World we live in is vast and still undiscovered. However, this journey need not be traveled alone. The people you meet will effect your entire future from this day forward. Many shall remain close to your heart, while others may take a different route and diverge from your path. Yet bonds are created, even in passing. And these ties remain forever. I can see them now, pale blue wires that ensnare and entangle your very heart. You are never truly alone. And suddenly, Sornieth isn't so large anymore. Just Be who you are."

On the brightest Ray Day of the entire year, Zinnia was called from her den in Mount Neverest to visit the Bird of Paradise, a massive seabound vessel her allies of The Paradise System inhabited. They were a wayfaring clan, bartering all across Sornieth that were welcome no matter where they set anchor. Siduvronti and The Paradise System were on mostly neutral terms, the former allowed the latter to port with them in exchange for supplies but never before has one been personally invited to board the Bird. Zinnia clutched her invitation close to her chest, stepping cautiously onto the ramp that led her upwards. She had heard tales of the ship's captain being a towering giant of a dragon who could stir up a maelstrom in the sea or sky with merely a flick of their tail. All the anxiety of coming face to face with this esteemed captain she'd never met coiled inside her belly like a frenzied snake but when she took the final steps onto the vessel, it was devoid of any sailors. How odd, had she confused the time of their meeting?

"Hey! Hey! You made it!" Before she had time to think about leaving, an excitable voice quipped from above Zinnia. She followed the voice until she landed on the crow's nest where a wind sprite peeked their head out with a grin. As the sprite flew down to Zinnia's level, a trail of clouds followed. "You can call me Plume! I was sent by Pensacola to come fetch you, follow me! We can't keep the captain waiting~" Wanting to do anything but enrage the generous captain, Zinnia trailed dutifully behind Plume into the hull of the ship. Unfortunately as Plume sped through the lower half of the ship, the wildclaw had to skid to a halt with a strange obstacle in her way. pale blue wires seeming to tear through the very material the Bird was crafted from. Pensacola was on the other end, how was she to traverse the maze of wires without damaging the watercraft?

"You may pass through them, the wires will not harm you." Came a distinctly rough timbre of a voice, it vaguely reminded the wildclaw of a maelstrom one would find at the edge of a sea. Against her better judgement, Zinnia lowered her head and tucked her wings close to touch as few of the threads as she possibly could. However, her tail brushed against a low-hanging thread on accident and she nearly yelped. She would have too, if not for the sudden calmness she felt press lightly against her heart. There was a faint memory that danced along the edge of her mind, one of her parents embracing her and her siblings. Plume had perched nearby on a barrel, watching the look of curiosity and wonder on Zinnia's maw with two glowing seafoam-colored eyes beside them. Lifting her right claw, Zinnia gently pressed against another pale blue wire, following the thread with her steps. For but a brief moment, she was transported back to the day she was exploring the frigid coast and came across a strange spirit she'd never seen before. Definitely Einherjar, but it seemed to be the embodiment of the wind itself that carried the warm spring breeze to the Southern Icefield. And, ironically, that was the day before she first came into contact with the Paradise system. she reached the end of the thread and was now in the center of the hull where the voice had come from. She looked up at the looming eyes before her, unable to speak until the form of a Pearlcatcher came into view. Pensacola, captain of the Bird of Paradise. Uncharacteristic of his baritone voice, he wore a gentle smile before bowing his head respectfully at Zinnia.

"So we finally meet in person." He started.

As it turned out, Pensacola was the strange wind spirit that Zinnia had met on that fateful day. It was her very behavior towards the captain of the Bird that clued him in to visiting and making a pact with the matriarch-in-training's clan. The circumstances with The Morningstar and the entire clan's innate ability to see the true forms of Einherjar were ideal for making connections with each other. Pensacola happily discussed how he was allowed to reveal himself to those on the ship, and exactly what the experience with the threads of fate signified. As an ancient Einherjar, the spirit of a powerful dragon given purpose on Sornieth, Pensacola was known as the magus of the maelstrom, and he was tasked to protect the memories of all dragonkind so when their time of their Departure from the living world arrived, they would be judged based on their actions and memories while alive. And it was Pensacola who administered that judgement from his very own pearl that powered the Bird.

"You're so powerful, why befriend a clan like ours? We cannot offer you more than goods and services." Zinnia murmured, in mixed awe and confusion that powerful Einherjar such as Arsène and Pensacola would even approach such a simple clan. Pensacola's answer was shocking to the young matriarch.

"Despite the obvious advantages of existing so far away from general civilization, my crew feels comfortable and safe in your capable claws. We are not all Einherjar and many of us have fled our homes in a desperate search to find a clan to accept them. I trust your leadership and judgement, and will do all I can within reason to assist you in your future endeavors." The meeting ended soon thereafter, and Zinnia returned to Mount Neverest with a confidence in her stride after hearing Pensacola's encouraging words. She may still be learning how to be a leader, but if what the Einherjar said was true then she was headed in the right direction.
