Somnolence was born on a moonlit night, a pale glimmer bursting from an Arcane egg. They would have loved their home if they'd stayed long enough to remember it, bright despite the night, and warm in the cradle of summer; instead their egg was hatched in the Scarred Wasteland, stolen by a pack of scavengers, a tribe who believed that eating dragons' eggs would make them stronger.

Having taken too long to partake of their meal, the Plague tribe had no use for Somnolence. After much hissing and muttering, they dumped Somnolence at the edge of the Tangled Wood, eager to wash their claws of the nasty business.

Somnolence spent some time among the twisted trees of the shadowlands, taken in by a clan who prized their cleverness. To their chagrin, they could not twist the young dragon's mind to suit their own devices. No matter how hard they tried to coax Somnolence to dance with the shadows and become one of their own, to trick and deceive, the pale dragon turned their head aside, playing along but never for sport.

It is rumored that they are the lost offspring of a noble family in the Starfall Isles, destined to become one of the Arcanist's disciples; others whispered that they were the product of a union between the moon and stars, fallen to the ground when another dragon wished upon their likeness in the night sky. Somnolence says nothing to confirm or deny the rumors, knowing next to nothing about their home themselves. Instead they spend their days sparring wit to wit with their clanmates, dreaming of finding a home that might be more accepting of their quiet, thoughtful nature.
