ATHENA
The Light Scribe (& her Ensorcelled Volume, Lux

In her family, receiving a name was the reward for a journey of self-discovery. In order to receive your name, you had to figure out who you really were and what role in the clan you would perform best in.

Her parents had been named after angels, mythical creatures that were mentioned often in lores and texts, buried under ruins of what were once thriving civilations. From what the scholars had puzzled out, angels were apparently a holy force, who served something greater. Like how the exalted dragons served their deities, some theorized.

She had been enraptured by such tales ever since she had been a young hatchling. Her parents told what they knew to her and her siblings often, imprinting oral legends into their minds, never to be forgotten. Eventually, each hatchling would leave the nest and go on their journey, but they those tales would remain with them forever. Soon, childhood tales would be relegated to silly campfire stories, and the seriousness and mysticism would be forgotten.

But she never forgot. And as the days passed, she yearned for more knowledge about these mythical beings. The fact that most knowledge had been lost to time did not dissuade her, instead it nurtured her resolve and gave her the strength to leave and bid her parents goodbye.

She set out to the Sunbeam Ruins, hoping that the answer would lie within those famed ancient ruins of long-dead societies, an archaeologist's dream.

She would fit right in there. And maybe, just maybe, she would earn her name along the way.

Day 8:
Athena continued to pick her way through the path, with Lux floating behind her. She couldn't see the end of the tunnel, nor pinpoint exactly where the voice was coming from. Suddenly, she realized that the sounds were becoming softer and softer. Athena paused, Lux looking over her shoulder.

What's wrong? He wrote.

"I... feel like we're going in the wrong way." She replied, unable to shake off an uneasy feeling. "Let's head back."

Athena turned and prepared to walk back but a slight imperfection in the ground caused her to pause. Oh no. Dear Lightweaver, please don't let it be another trap again...
A rumbling sound grew louder, and the tunnel began to shake.

"Fly!" Athena yelled at Lux, bolting towards the way she came from. A cloud of dust and rocks fell from the ceiling, blinding her sight. At last, the chamber came into view, and she emerged, coughing.

"Lux?"

The Ensorcelled Volume arrived behind her, a fine layer of soil covering his wings and covers, looking disgruntled.
