As a member of the clan's premier fighting force, particularly one who arrived late to the group but still manages to fight alongside them as if she trained with them, Sinclair commands quite a bit of respect. This is only heightened by her unusual methods, as, rather than fight with tooth and claw and magic, she is primarily an archer, a discipline shared by no other dragon she has met. She doesn't think she has a sense of superiority about it, but she does tend to look rather smug after a demonstration of her skills. More unusually, she learned what she insists on calling her art from centaurs; to be specific, a small herd she encountered on the edge of Shadow territory who taught her to shoot in exchange for her protection while they searched for a new home. The bow she uses now was designed specifically for her, and the arrows she makes herself out of whatever materials she can find. Or steal. She is a member of Sparkspell, after all. Though she was never particularly ill-disposed toward the beastclans, this encounter turned her into a staunch defender of them, and the other guards have changed their behavior in response. Sinclair can be recognized instantly by her grace and poise, qualities unparalleled by most of her clanmates, although she doesn't seem to be aware of this and considers herself quite clumsy. No one is quite sure what standard she's measuring by, but attempts to convince her otherwise are met with polite confusion. She tends to be very quiet unless her singing abilities are called upon, and even then she is reluctant to perform, and can usually only be convinced by Pendleton. Despite the guards as a whole being known for their flashiness, Sinclair prefers to avoid drawing attention unless that attention is related to her archery; her fighting skill is her main point of pride. She collects somewhat strange trophies from her battles, tusks that disintegrate into goo and brittle bones that crumble to ash in a few days, as well as anything especially colorful or shiny that catches her eye. When asked about this practice she usually makes a joke about it saving space. In her less guarded moments she will admit that it's something of a philosophical impulse, a reminder to herself that nothing lasts forever and life is precious, somewhat unexpected in a dedicated warrior. Initially no one expected her to become part of the home guard relationship as well as the fighting force, least of all her, but she got on unexpectedly well with Darnell and Pendleton, and their bond has only been strengthened by the time they've spent fighting together. Sinclair has a tendency to be on her guard with her clanmates, even now, but she relaxes noticeably around the other guards and is usually seen with at least one of them when not on business. |
