CLAN POSITION: Strategist

Naiad was born in the Wind clan. She was born as a lowly dragon in the Zephyr Steppes. Her mother, a beautiful triple teal female, loved Naiad. But Naiad's name was not 'Naiad at the time. It was Tempest.
But two days after the little hatchling was born, she was snatched away by one of the Tidelord's devoted followers, a furry blue tundra.
And so the little hatchling's name was changed to Naiad, and she was forced to become one of the Tidelord's minions.
As Naiad grew older and more sophisticated, she also grew more beautiful. All who saw her expressed their surprise that a dragon with her looks was not a pure Water dragon.
Naiad, having no memory of the Zephyr Steppes, didn't understand why she had pale green eyes, instead of dark blue.
But she didn't allow that to show to other dragons. She stood firm as one of the Tidelord's most devoted followers like she was trained to be.
But then, one day, Naiad was told that she must kidnap a hatchling from the Lightning clan.
As Naiad landed noiselessly in the nest, she saw the little baby. So peaceful, so innocent.
As she looked at the baby, a painful flash of memory came to her.
A tundra.
Being carried high over the Wind clan.
A breeze ruffling her mane.
What? thought Naiad, I've never set foot in the Wind clan!
Shaking the disturbing thoughts from her head, Naiad got back to the problem at hand.
She picked up the hatchling and turned towards the sky, preparing for flight.
Then, something large and greenish slammed into her, hard.
Naiad instinctively wrapped the baby in her wings as she fell, to cushion the hatchling's fall.
Naiad quickly placed the baby on the ground and turned to face her attacker.
A large, male triple jade imperial stood before her, his light blue eyes sparkling with fury.
He struck at her again.
Naiad, ready this time, leaped into the air, flaring out her wings and lunging towards him.
The imperial tensed, then darted under her, towards the hatchling.
When Naiad turned as she hit the ground, he was facing her, standing protectively over the hatchling.
Naiad, realizing this was a fight she could not win, spread her wings and flew away from him, towards her reinforcements.
The Water dragons plunged towards the male on silent wings. Before he could call to the other dragons, the had him knocked out.
Naiad landed lightly and picked up the hatchling, which, surprisingly, had stayed asleep.
"Leave the hatchling," a Water dragon rasped.
Naiad cocked her pretty head at him.
"This is the one we want."
"I was told to get this hatchling," Naiad protested.
The dragon shook his head, "No. We're taking this one."
Naiad put the baby back in his nest and covered him with leaves. Then she followed the rest of her clan.
They went back to the Water clan, where the Lightning dragon was made a prisoner.
Naiad did not agree with holding him hostage, and said so. But she was overruled.
Smoldering angrily, Naiad volunteered to bring him down to his prison.
She learned his name was Nestor.
Naiad got him back to consciousness, and as she put him in his cell, she resolved to keep and eye on him.
So she did.
Over the weeks, Naiad felt herself growing closer to the male.
Finally, one day, Nestor asked her why she had pale green eyes.
"Were you snatched like I was?" he asked.
Naiad stared at him. HAD she been snatched? Is that why her eyes were pale green instead of dark blue? Was she really from the Wind flight?
"You were young when you were taken then. You don't remember, do you?" he asked quietly.
But Naiad remembered now.
She remembered her mother's voice, her father's touch.
She remembered being taken away by the blue tundra.
She remembered...everything. Everything that had happened that night.
I almost took a hatchling away from his family! His real family! thought Naiad in dismay.
So Naiad and Nestor began to plot.
And one night, they put those plans into action.
Since the base they were at was closer to the Wind clan, they decided to go there first.
And so they did.
They went straight to the Wind clan without being noticed.
But the Water clan found out.
Naiad and Nestor were chased all over the world map. They settled in the Light, Plague, Earth, Shadow, and Ice clan before they finally ran to the Gladekeeper for help.
And the Gladekeeper, the most wild of the deities, did not like to think that other dragons were being imprisoned against their will.
The Gladekeeper hid the two deep in the Shrieking Wilds.
And there they stayed until the ruckus died down.
But by then, Naiad loved it in the Nature clan. And after she hunted down her family in the Wind clan, she went right back to the Nature clan, dropping off Nestor in the Lightning clan on the way.
But over the next few days, Naiad felt a sadness that shouldn't have been there. She had a home. She had met her family, and she would still visit them regularly. So why was she sad?
Then, suddenly, a vision of Nestor's bright blue eyes flashed in her mind.
Nestor.
Nestor?
Nestor!
Naiad knew right then that she loved the male.
And she was going to tell him so.
Naiad flew right back to the Lightning clan and told him.
Nestor stared at her.
Naiad suddenly started feeling anxious. What if he didn't feel the same way?
But he did.
And he told her.
The two were mated in the Wind clan, and then they flew to the Nature clan to build a new life together.
