Biography
THE WITCH
Tara has been a witch for as long as she can remember, and that is a while. Her craft concerns not only the secrets of the arcane, which may sustain or unravel the universe, but also the mundane: those hidden meanings that lie within even the most ordinary of objects.
She is at once magician, herbologist, counselor, researcher, nurse, and an infinite number of other things, as the mood strikes her. If you ask her in a quiet moment, she'll say that she's an artist: she takes the dreams, fears, and superstitions of dragonkind, dating back to its very origins, and morphs them into something at once functional and beautiful.
When there is a problem that cannot be solved through the usual means: an illness that cannot be cured, perhaps, or a sudden and inescapable feeling of dread... that's when they seek out Tara, deep in her mossy cave near the edge of the Howling Jungle. There's no telling what she will suggest: a strict diet of nothing but pharaoh ants for a week? A poultice of wolfsbane and feverfew? The burning of a redwood log during the next full moon? Any of these are possibilities--and all would be accepted without question, for Tara's remedies are known to have a success rate well above average, however little sense they may make to the typical observer.
Though she seems to have no interest in the idea of a permanent mate, Tara loves children, and has no reservations about nesting with like-minded males whose magical talents rival hers.
She is the Arcane representative of the Council of Elements, though she abstains from most non-major decisions.
Tara is a word originating from Sanskrit, meaning star, and it symbolizes the light of the soul.
Protector of the arcane leylines that run far beneath the island.
