The 77's - Nobody's Fault but Mine
Basically a scholar from light who was banished from the educational institute for teaching things that went against the narrative that the educational institute supported (but were wrong) because they were widely accepted and they didn't actually care about truth just what seems true (there is a difference)
The other scholars where shade touched or something for them to be covering up truth, and it probably to a degree had something to do with why they were lying and hadn't told everyone yet (they also give light a bad name because on the whole light does seek objective truth)
The book he carries around guardedly is the evidence and the actual truth and it goes everywhere with him bound to his side by worn leather straps that no longer match from being replaced several times
Major lore points: time in light as a scholar studying historical documents and eyewitness accounts

transformation scene??? format it as a flashback triggered by seeing a clan member use a gene scroll. Novae's transformation is different from my main cannon that its a smooth painless switch especially gene/color changes since it's just patterns on skin. breedchange is a slower change but doesnt take very long and for sure doesnt hurt it just kinda tickles. put this hc somewhere else maybe make a dragon have the lore of scrollkeeper and they are the one that keeps and applies scrolls for the clan
Novae sighed and closed the book he had been scribbling in and stretched his aching claws. Unsure how long he had been writing, he turned his head and peered out the window. It was pitch dark except for a pale band near the horizon. He could also hear birds starting to sing their melodious tunes to wake the denizens of the dense forest the clan called home. Novae rose from the desk he was sitting at and began to put his supplies away. As he finished, the first rays of dawn streamed in through the window. Heaving another sigh, Novae gazed unfocusedly out the window at the swaying branches, however his mind was far from vacant. 
Novae had been living with the clan long enough to finally start trusting others again. The hodgepodge mix of faces was a little jarring at first after being alone for so long. Fortunately for him, the clan was enough of a mix of many different personalities they thought nothing of it and welcomed him all the same. Soon, to Novae's surprise he began to warm up to the friendly faces. For the most part he stayed in his den and rarely braved the harsh cold outside.
The first dragon to truly gain his trust was the mute leader of the clan, Wynten, which was not a huge surprise as she was once a spy and she can't talk. Maybe it was also the grace that her thin frame carried as she tended the clan's affairs. Novae would tell you it was the former if asked (he would never admit the real reason to an outsider or even entirely to himself). Trusting others was not his strong suit, but trust was his key to freedom.
