Moonstone is a lord scholar who stood as Guardian Regent of the kingdom until Orion was old enough to assume the throne. That duty thankfully done, he now works under Prince Corvus as a Lord Scholar, specializing in Ice Flight history. His main duty is working with Celaena and Yuto in preparing any dragon being sent to serve under the Icewarden, by sharing his knowledge.

Naturally skittish, somewhat clumsy, and easily flustered, Moonstone never really wanted to be Regent, but his vast knowledge of the history of the Ice Fields was vital to the survival of a kingdom made up of dragons from all across Sornieth. Not wanting to let anyone down, or let on how terrified he was, Moonstone did the job. And he seems to have done it well, for Orion and Cosmos both still come to him for advice and wisdom. Secretly, he is very proud, if not a little shocked, and he is working on not becoming so tongue tied when they come to him.
