Biography
The First Day
The Shadowbinder trudged through the forest, sludge oozing from her pores. One large globule dropped to the ground, and a shadowy figure crawled out from the muck: an obsidian Guardian, already an adult. Shadowbinder glanced back, acknowledging his existence only for a brief moment as she hissed, “Veracity”, and slunk away.
Veracity opened his eyes to the sound of flapping wings rustling to a stop, and his first gaze was met with a small, magpie-like creature: a lone Storm Seeker, far from home. The little bird peeked at him inquisitively. They were wary of each other, but felt a compelling and distinct bond. The two set out into the brambles to create a home, Veracity dug into the warm soft earth while his familiar (who Veracity decided to call Pastry) collected thorns, mushrooms and trinkets to decorate the fledgling burrow.
The first dragon he met, aside from the goddess, was a brightly coloured Tundra, presumably attracted to the sound of digging. She made an uninvited visit to the lair, looking for a mate, but they were not compatible. He found her unnerving and overbearing, as she shoved her nose toward him to get his scent; and she... well, apparently she decided he didn't “smell like a friend”. She left as suddenly as she arrived, perhaps she went on to serve the Shadowbinder, or continue her search.
The bewildering encounter did inspire a notion in the Guardian, however - a yearning for company, a instinctual pull towards finding something, or someone, to guard. He and Pastry set out into The Tangled Wood, and quite quickly began finding all manner of orphans and outcasts...
