A M P H I T R I T E 🐟
Fisher and beachcomber

The sun was spooning the horizon, the sea's green was playing with the gold streaks of the sun on the water. In the high summer the evening was long as the shadows and the hush of the waves and the creak of the coloured lanterns on the shore-side entrance of the lair somehow added to the peace. It was all very perfect.
Amphitrite and Alcyone were tangled up on the sand, together their long bodies made a mutual nest for high quality cuddling. They were silent for a long time, just enjoying the other's presence. It had a been a long day of collecting stacks of drift wood that would dry over the summer and autumn for use in the winter, or perhaps a nice bonfire or two in the Brightshine Jubilee.
"So... A nest." Amphitrite murmured awakened by a sudden passing of crying gulls, her mouth was snuggled beneath Alcyone's jaw, she cracked one eye open to look up at her snoozing mate.
"Mmmmhmmm..." Alcyone grumbled contentedly.
"You still want this to happen?" She asked.
"Mmmmmmmmhmmmmmmm..." He grumbled again.
Amphitrite laughed, she knew that reasonably her beloved mate couldn't give her a serious answer when he was this comfortable and started wriggling out from under him. He grumbled again in dissatisfaction.
"I... I have to show you something." Amph began, she sat upright suddenly and started clacking her claws together nervously. "I wouldn't want to start a nest with you, my dear, unless you knew the whole truth... Because that is a kind of lying in my eyes..."
Alcyone's brow knotted, his usually brash mate wasn't one to keep secrets (quite the opposite, she had a reputation). He leaned closer and tilted his head with a smile, he was still only half awake.
Amphitrite waded into the water with her usual slinky gait, Alc giggled bemusedly as she started to paddle in circles. She took a deep breath and in a shimmering pop of curling vapour her body dissipated into a sprawling mass of Corycats, who sunk into the water.
Alcyone shook himself awake and loped up to his mate, making pains to gently enter the water. The corycats darted around him, he stared at the golden fish who collectively peered back, now navigating in between his long whiskers.
"Oh Amphi..." He trailed, "This is how you get all the good stuff beachcombing... That's sort of cheating, you know!" He playfully dashed the water and in retaliation the corycats leaped up at him all at once, covering him in strange, fishy kisses...

Amphitrite is a bold and good humoured dragon, with a loud ringing laugh and toothy grin. She adores to joke and laugh, despite her lonely occupation as a beachcomber. She loves wine, bright jangling, jewellery of the gold variety and sitting in the sunshine. She is a notorious gossip, its well known that you never tell a secret worth keeping to Amph but she's a perfect addition to a party and great at cheering up wailing hatchlings. She is famous for her witty one liners that clanmates will repeat for weeks after.

She is the beginning of a line of shape shifters within class blackglass, when she settled alongside her mate Alcyone. Now her daughters Fina and Firrus continue that line. She learnt her magic after migrated from the windswept plateau to the cloudsong to the tsunami flats, where she apprenticed under a mage who saw she had the genes of a shapeshifter. Amphitrite's first form was a party of laughing southern gulls, but the mage saw past her clinging to her birth clan and encouraged her to embrace the wanderlust so close to the heart of wind dragons. Soon she found her permanent form, a shoal of bustling, orange corycats.
She knew her place was by the sea.

Amphitrite joined blackglass to settle with her mate Alcyone, there was a shore in reach and plenty of delightful clanmates, although one day she might move. Amph starts her day early by setting down the shore at dawn and combing the shallows for pretty bits and pieces in her corycat form. Pearls, shell bits, beads and beautiful pebbles. She even has some maren friends, unaware of her true form who point her here and there. The clan uses her findings to make jewellery. She then brings up her nets before hauling them in, then sorting them before transporting them back to the lair and storing them in the cold store.
