While the Sunbeam Ruins are known for their mild weather, there is one particular jut of land that extends into the sea where a peculiar preponderance of storms tends to gather, battering this small bit of coastline with squalls that would make the Stormcatcher shudder. This place is known as the Maelstrom Point, and from here one can gaze out over the vast, heaving waters to the most perfect horizon for miles around. From this jagged promontory, the retired veteran Tempest keeps watch for approaching storms and souls that have been lost at sea. As the clan's most capable storm-flyer, it is his self-appointed duty to rescue any travelers caught in the teeth of the gale. The inscrutable Imperial rarely speaks of his origins; he was not young when he arrived on Noc's shores, and it is known that he has traveled greatly. If one were to look inside the battered sea-chest he keeps in his rarely-used quarters, one would find a collection of mementos from each of the eleven territories, and perhaps beyond, as he has dredged up all manner of mysteries from the deep. He is loyal to the Brighthammer, having known Noc from when she was but a young and idealistic conqueror, though he no longer shares her militaristic outlook. |
