Asmodeus seems a consummate gentleman, elegant, charming, handsome, and persuasive. But as so many other things are, particularly among the unnamed clan, his appearance is deceiving. Perhaps it's that he's a little too handsome, too beautiful. Perhaps his voice is too sweet, with a preternatural ability to turn suggestions into compulsions. He's not what he seems. Beware the serpent's silver tongue, and his pretty lies.

Asmodeus turns charm into an art, coaxing even the most reluctant dragons to his bedchamber by the dozens, and gathering favors like a gardener plucks flowers. Not that he would compare himself to a gardener, far too nurturing for his taste, but he does like the analogy of clipping every blossom from its stem, and keeping their foreshortened beauty all to himself until they wither away. If he can't have all of something, then no one should have any of it. He uses gossip, blackmail, and rumor-spreading to manipulate others, and help him get what he wants. He's also a gambler, offering others a “harmless little wager” that quickly turns into another, and another, until they're in well over their head and Asmodeus can extract whatever it is he wished and more from them.

Partly out of jealousy and partly out of selfishness, he despises birds and water. The birds that flutter overhead, in beautiful feathers he doesn't possess, singing for anyone to hear, nearly make him spit with hatred. Likewise water, pure and clear that washes away deceit and gives life freely to all around it, too unpredictable and immense for him to ever control or possess, incites his anger. He never sets foot in any body of water, or even goes out in the rain, if he can help it. That they're both symbols of freedom and wide open possibilities isn't a coincidence either. He'd prefer for everyone to have only one option, and for it to be him.

Asmodeus walks with a slight limp, but it's difficult to see what the cause could be, as he keeps the lamed leg covered up by an elaborate brace of filigreed copper set with emeralds. However, what of it is visible seems unusually scaled, with long claws, more like a bird's foot than a dragon's. He prefers to fly instead of walking if he can, or introduce himself seated with the leg tucked under him, to hide it. He dislikes talking about it, viewing any imperfection to his beauty with ill grace, but if he's in a good mood he might talk about injuring it when he fell from the sky after a fight with another dragon. If he's in a bad mood, he's likely to send the unlucky victim away nursing wounds from his sharp words and sharper bite.
