Biography
A West African Goddess of the Moon
"I'm telling you! Something was there!"
For a very long time, nearly since the beginning of the clan's formation, the topic of Mawu's existence has always been up for debate. Is she an actual dragon? Or is she a spirit in the shape of a dragon? The only time that she is seen is at night when the moon is showing, even if it is only a sliver of the moon. At a new moon, there is no account of glimpse of the elusive creature.
Because of the rare occurrence of actually laying eyes on Mawu and never actually speaking with her, many dragons in the clan believe that she may possibly be a messenger for a deity, and not a normal dragon like them. There are a few dragons that claim that she is real, Nabu for example and the ones who do not believe call him a lunatic because he tries to convince others that she is real. Yet, he is not alone. Mabon, the witch; Galaril, the captain of the forest patrol; and Aseri, the vanguard captain know that she means well. Mawu converses with Galaril and Aseri about the safety concerns of the clan. As for Mabon, the Coatl is probably Mawu's best friend and one that she turns to for companionship.
There is another creature that Mawu confides in, but very little known about this other beast.
Mawu is always on the look out for helping others when she travels at night. She is a benign dragon and does not take pleasure in seeing anyone suffering. If she does choose to speak, her voice is soft like a light breeze caressing the tops of tall grass.
"I'm telling you! Something was there!"
"Relax will you...it was merely a play of light."
