Born in the Sea of a Thousand Currents, the taciturn young Imperial desperately loved braving rough seas and harsh waters, so as he came of age and his scales hardened, he traveled to the South to experience the forbidding depths of the Southern Icefield's seas.

However, due to a miscalculation on Apophis' end, he ended up caught in some larger swells, and nearly drowned as he was knocked out by the freezing waters. A scout, Antilles, managed to see the imperial's Spring belly face up in the water, and went to get help back at the Wandering Snows clan. Apophis was quickly enough saved and resuscitated, but his sharp tongue (sharpened more by embarrassment) ripped some interesting comments into the group of dragons that had huddled around him. The clan after all was not so large at the time.

The clan's healer at the time, Anuket, was told to tend to him as he regained his strength. His lungs had taken on much water, and Apophis had mentioned while Water drakes could deal with water/air conflicts rather well-- if you were knocked out and could not control your magic, you were out of luck.

He silently sulked as he rested and was tended to, but was struck by the patience of the imperial healer that tended to him. Apophis knew, as an imperial, that it was important to steer clear of one's own breed for the most part, but he could not help having an appreciation for her. Apophis slowly opened up over time, through evenings telling her stories as she asked about him. He would talk about his sheer love of the water, and of treasure hunting in the depths.

When he did regain his strength, Apophis asked if he could remain with the clan as a fisher-drake, and also asked that he be allowed to dive for treasure sometimes. (As long as someone was aware of that should there be trouble.) His temper had cooled towards many of the clan's members, but was replaced by something of a calm. He did not deign to talk to many, unless the topic concerned the sea or fish.
