ABOUT. IMPRESSIONS. PAST. Absent-minded, clumsy, and always, it seems, underfoot, it's a wonder Boreas has managed to keep his title as Shadow representative as long as he has. Fortunately, he shares it with Ananke and Matrim, both very capable dragons in their own right, though not one of them is sure they could hold the title alone as Matrim often disappears for days on end and Ananke is just as indifferent to responsibility as she is to water. So it was split three ways, and Boreas assumed the spiritual responsibilities that the role tied him to. He took it with gusto in the beginning, satisfied that it kept him busy. Not long after his first few trials, for seemingly no apparent reason whatsoever, he developed a rather... odd ability, to say the least. He discovered it not long after the first clan anniversary: he was more than just a good listener. In fact, dragons who talked to him about their troubles-- which was easy, seeing as Boreas was, inside and out, a very understanding dragon-- felt better about them almost instantly after pouring their souls out to him. No one questions it, no one bothers to find out how or why, and so he continues with his quiet existence, granting 'butterfly wishes', occasionally sitting in on a therapy session with Theia to help reassure any of her patients, and in general just being the cheery, bright soul that he is. Therein lies the problem. To the rest of the clan, this is who Boreas is. Always willing to lend a helping hand, always willing to listen to someone else's problems, yet while he is honoured that so many trust him with their secrets, he cannot bring himself to do the same. But there is hope on the horizon. A particular pearlcatcher, marble-carved and Lightborn, is dismantling his defenses with insistent kisses and quiet affection. Helios has his fair share of secrets and Boreas is now aware that if he wants to make his beloved feel better, he must let down his own walls, too. Small steps. It will happen eventually.
