Is deaf, and has been most of her life. She didn't have many options when when she arrived at the clan, for the other dragons couldn't have her gather or hunt, lest she be caught unsuspecting by any danger. Becoming a warrior was out of the question. In her beginning time at the clan she would help Elifa with the garden and hatchlings, cheerfully and wordlessly prancing about the hatchlings and smelling the garden's flowers. Meriona got distracted, and wandered off to Maksim's forge. The loud noises of the fires and metals that usually deter other dragon's away didn't affect Meriona, and Maksim found her interestedly watching the machines. He hadn't known at the time she was deaf, and panicked, quickly removing his ear covers (which he and Siorys used around the more abnoxious machines), gave them to Meriona, and rushed her away. Siorys recognized her and explained to the Pearcatcher that she was the deaf dragon under Elifa's watch. Maksim was intrigued. After Aixa fixed his bleeding ears, Maksim convinced Gyaran and Elifa to let Meriona work with him. She enjoys her work. Meriona saves the craftsmen time by being able to quickly work and repair the machines. She's a problem solver, and a creative one. There have been many times that she's repaired Siory's prosthetics when he just can't seem to find the source of the problem. She tinkers with the metals in her spare time, molding intricate little statues. Maksim's proud to have her on his forge, and even developed a form of signals to communicate with her more efficiently.
