Oh, do you remember?
Do you remember yesterday?
When we sat under the willow tree in the rushing of the evening wind?
When we sang to each other under the sky?
Do you remember when we were but a spark?
The love that has come and gone?
Do you remember when the world was so small?

Do you remember what happened?

Tangerine is one of the famous founders of the Clan, and Envy's first love. They would sit together in the lair, him humming deep in his throat, her curled against his side. Tangerine could make Envy laugh so easily, and she never failed to make him smile. He was well known and well loved, and his soft, kind demeanor tied the clan together. He was the heart of the clan.

And then, he was gone.

As the days bled into weeks, and the weeks into months, and the months into years, what little softness that Envy held in her heart bled with them. Aranck helped her, but those that have been around since the beginning remember when the queen had so much energy, so much life...

Years, maybe even decades later, he is home again. He doesn't seem comfortable disclosing where he was and what happened (in fact he comes very close to tears when reminded of it), but many don't care, and the rest do not wish to risk the crown's wrath if they were to upset him too badly. One might note that he seems to have dedicated himself to being a cleric of the Shadowbinder since he returned. He is much as he was when he left: kind, dependable, quick to listen, to understand, to comfort.

Tangerine is somewhat of a legend in the kingdom, and it shows in how others treat him, much to his distress. Flocks of children tug on his sleeve and offer him flowers, and oh, you would not believe the stars in their eyes when he looks at them and talks to them. Tangerine spends a lot of his time among the people that he rules, trying to familiarize himself with them. All of them. One day he is in a park, telling stories, the next he is chatting with the fishermen on the docks or lending a hand at the herbalists' shops. In trying to prove that he is normal, Tangerine has merely proven that he is anything but.

As for the court? Well, Tangerine has quickly accepted the new additions to his immediate family, and has tried just as hard to get to know them and contribute to each of them. Soren is grateful for a less fierce, less intense parent, and Ismat is merely happy to sit with him and talk for hours. Aranck finds more and more that he and Tangerine are very similar in some ways, and a weight seems to have lifted off his shoulders. As for Envy? Well, Envy has never smiled more.

I smell my family on the wind,
folded in blue and black, stirred with stars,
and I know that I am home.
