Vigilance arrived as a hatchling in the then-smaller lair of Clan Fulgurite, back when the lair was still situated in the milder regions of the Shifting Expanse. Originally from the Wind-born clan at Raven Ridge, Vigilance was part of a delegation to cement an alliance. With him was a pair of Ridgebacks who served as the previous General's lieutenants. They were the first three dragons to join the founders of Clan Fulgurite.

Now the founders and the original lieutenants are gone, off to serve Stormcatcher in the eternal battle against the Shade, and Vigilance is the last remnant of the old regime.

Vigilance is somewhat undersized for a male Guardian, but he compensates by being an unusually dense wall of muscle. He lives up to his name daily, a solid bulwark between Fulgurite's borders and anything hostile. His patrols are also often cause for clan expansion, as Vigilance is hard pressed to leave behind any lost sojourner he happens to find wandering the vast and storm-torn deserts of the Shifting Expanse.

One of Vigilance's adopted strays is Haestrom, a male Tundra with whom Vigilance has since grown intimately close. The two are lovers, mates. Unable to have any hatchlings of their own, Vigilance and Haestrom guide, protect, and nurture the hatchlings of the other dragons in the clan, or, more often, hatchlings from far-flung places who somehow manage to show up on Fulgurite's threshold.

Vigilance is a kind soul, taciturn but gentle. He firmly abides by the rules and laws of the clan, and enforces the laws of the clan, keeping some of the more chaotic dragons in line. Despite his role as an enforcer, Vigilance is also fair and compassionate. Firm in his judgments, but not rigid or unreasonable. His goal is to correct aberrant behaviors without needing to punish them, something he feels is an important distinction.

In the wake of a violent upheaval, Vigilance now co-leads the clan with rebel leader Menae. He finds himself uncomfortable with the title of Warlord, but seems to have inherited it regardless, although his purpose in the clan is as clear as it has been from the day he arrived and declared the clan's young to be his Charge.

Vigilance is the protector, the bulwark between danger and the vulnerable, and he would have that no other way.
