The stars wait and whisper with bated breath and trembling sighs as a new age dawns over the land. The players are in position and the stage is set, all there is left to do now is sit back and watch...

A knight breaks her oaths. A promising young sorceress is expelled. A pirate stumbles across a stowaway. A creature from beyond the stars folds itself into a mortal shape. A boy flees the burning wreckage of his home.

And hundreds of miles away, two baby boys are born, each with the power and promise to shape the world laid in the palms of their hands.

The Knights of the Afterlight

The Knights of the Afterlight are a group dedicated to protecting the world from rogue mages and dangerous and forbidden kinds of magic. However over time their righteous mission has evolved into a kind of near-religious zealotry, leading them to relentlessly persecute anyone and anything they deem as unnatural or heretical. The Knights of the Afterlight mostly gain their recruits from mage families who give them their magicless children, but some seek them out of their own accord after witnessing, or falling victim to, the kinds of magic and mages the Knights were formed to combat.

The University of Sunshade

Composed of the twin colleges Sunspire and Mooncrest, the university is the preeminent place for both a magical and mundane education. While Sunspire and Mooncrest started entirely separate schools, and bitter rivals at that, over time they merged into a single entity, mostly due to the increasing scrutiny and brutality from the Knights of the Afterlight.
