Why are crows songbirds if they can't sing?
Clan Info
Hey there! You can call me Ripley. I'm just some teenager on the internet who wants to make a cool dragon story. And I speak Swedish (added bonus). I'm quite shy and my social battery is drained very easily so I apologise if I cut my socialising to the bare minimum :'>
The ancient laws and beliefs of the Kraksang stated that corvids, such as ravens, crows and magpies were the reincarnations of ancestors. As such, dragons born with the same dark colouring were seen as representations of the corvid family; boasting a connection with the afterlife that the other dragons could only yearn for.
It was this tilted power that caused it all to come crashing down. Dragons who didn't have dark scales, or bear some sort of resemblance to the corvids, were immediately outcasted, shunned, taunted and shamed. They were seen as pointless; as the lack of dark scales meant that the connection with the corvids had been lost, symbolising severed ties with their ancestors. Most of these 'impure' dragons lead miserable lives surrounded by bullying and mockery.
Alas, eventually there came one dragon, born with the purest white scales (and subject to the same misery), who changed everything.

And a possibly interesting fact about the naming conventions of the Kraksang; the name translates to "crow song" or "crow's song" from Swedish, which is an ironic name! Crows as well as all corvids are technically songbirds, but while you'd expect songbirds to sound sweet and perhaps melancholy, corvids have rough and scratchy (unpleasant) calls, leaving many wondering why they're referred to as songbirds in the first place.
It's this subtly ironic name that reveals more about the Kraksang than possibly anything else - they believe they're strong-hearted and glorious (largely because the clan's ancient laws state so), often comparing themselves to benevolent dragons and clans of other lands; however, much like a crow cannot out-sing a bluetit, they aren't anywhere near as kind as they like to think they are and are actually very hypocritical, callous, and archaic.
KRAKSANG
The tale of the Kraksang is an ironic, perhaps bittersweet tragedy that could have been avoided if only they could see past their own blighted ignorance; for in the end, what they saw to be inferior brought about the end of them all.The ancient laws and beliefs of the Kraksang stated that corvids, such as ravens, crows and magpies were the reincarnations of ancestors.
