Clawfire's Clan

The Clan of Valour And it burned The world around them Consumed in a blazing blitz And amber flames lit up the world And the worst and best in all of them Their darkest secrets Their brightest hopes All seared and brought to the fire To be examined in its glow And the world continued to burn Then finally, they looked at one another With a passion hotter than the flames But much more gentle "If this is to end in flames," one said "Then let us burn together."

Once upon a time, the Clan of Valour was the greatest lair for miles about. They had everything, from treasure to lair space to dragons versed in all kinds of arts. Their pride got to them, and they began to think themselves gods. They started ordering constructions of temples to their clan and set out to conquer the lands around them.

The Flamecaller didn't stand by to watch one clan attempt to claim power a mortal should never be found with. Her wrath was horrible. She called down the sky fires, and in a blink of the eye, the Clan of Valour was gone.

What remained of the lair was a small fire of fizzling sparks and ashes. The survivors fled to all four corners of the earth, seeking the protection of the other deities. Those who dared to stay behind decided that they had learned their lesson, and they would start all over again to make their clan great once again.



One of the remaining dragons of the former Clan of Valour was Azorius the storyteller. Immediately it became clear to him that a clan who rebuilt itself from his old roots will give growth to the same tree that destroyed them. Determined not to let such a disaster strike his clan again, Azorius laid down the rules, strict and unrelenting. Those who did not wish to follow his rules left, and he was not sad to see them go, for he knew that those rules would help keep the clan intact and those who could not follow them did not deserve to remain.

When everyone who wanted to leave had left, Azorius began searching for new blood. He traveled far and wide for the young and the enthusiastic, hoping to bring their energy and bright auras into the battered clan.

He recruited. And recruited. And when he finally returned from his journey, he taught the new clan members the rules. He told them what powers they should never attempt to achieve, and warn them that the great Mather would not show mercy to the clan a second time. When he made sure the new ones understood, Azorius, surprisingly, retired to his den. "For I am also one of the ones who first brought the clan to ruins," he said, "and if this clan is the remain intact, then I must not become the leader."

Perhaps Azorius meant to inspire the new clan members, but all he did was spark a civil war. Two new members, Osiris and Setekh, stepped forth to claim the rank of clan leader, and neither were willing to call a truce. The newly-resurrected clan began falling apart, the members siding with either Osiris or Setekh.

And so the battle raged.
The old members of the clan reside in the First Lair (page one) of the clan, while the new members had settled down everywhere else. The elders remain quiet and neutral as the younglings scrabble for the seat of the leader. They did not come forth to stop the war, for as long as the clan was tearing itself apart, at least the rest of the world was safe.

And perhaps this was Azorius's intention, for the only way the Clan of Valour can refrain from being a threat to the world was if it fought no one but itself.
So far, the clan has been divided into four chapters, each manned by a different leader. The chapters are:





Along with her mate, Selene is the young leader of the Serenity Chapter, the Chapter which calls for peace. The Serenity Chapter is the third party in every clan meeting. The Serenity Chapter does not like to involve itself in the feudal wars between the other chapters, preferring to run the clan as the others fight it out. This has led them to quietly gain a vast amount of power over the clan's financial structure, as well as their connections between the other clans. The Serenity Chapter is composed of dragons who are simply trying to live their lives, and see no point in tussling over a simple thing such as the seat of the clan leader. The other chapters see them as pacifists and barely take notice of them. If only they knew...
